Starting and Stopping the Ringing

Starting and stopping the bells is easy, via menu options, or buttons on the tool-bar:

Select Ring. Click this button to select bells for ringing.

Stage buttons. The options available here vary according to the number of bells you have raised. If you have all eight bells raised, buttons for Triples and Major are displayed (although it is still possible to ring methods from lower stages - such as minor and doubles - via menu options). The buttons lead to menus of methods and compositions for the respective method stages. Choosing a method or composition from one of these menus is possible while the bells are stood or while they are ringing rounds. If the bells are stood, they will ring a whole pull of rounds before starting into changes. If they are ringing rounds, they will start into changes at the next handstroke.

Start. Clicking this button makes the bells pull off and start ringing rounds.

Go Again. Repeat the previously rung method or composition.

Rounds. Whatever the bells are doing, they will return to rounds when you click this button. This may take several swings and involve some clashing!

Stand. This is the equivalent of calling "Stand" in a real tower. The bells will generally stand themselves in an orderly fashion at the end of the next backstroke, although sometimes one or two will carry on for another whole pull (the bells have to return to a normal rounds rhythm before the stand procedure can be carried out and sometimes this takes an extra swing to achieve).

Stop. Forget reality, just end the ringing. Now! The bells return to the stood position instantly.
